Centre for Addiction and Mental HealthThe Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is a public hospital providing direct patient care for people with mental health and addiction problems. Dual Diagnosis Program Operates both an inpatient unit and community based services. It is a specialized program for individuals with a developmental disability and emotional, behavioural or psychiatric difficulties, their families and care providers.

Community Networks of Specialized Care On May 18, 2005, as part of the transformation of developmental services, the Ministry of Community and Social Services (MCSS) announced that four networks of specialized care would be established across the province. The purpose of the Networks is to enhance service to adults with a developmental disability who need specialized care for co-existing mental health and or/ behavioural issues.

Aging Issues in MR and DD

Centre for Aging Persons with Developmental Disabilities (CAPDD) The University Affiliated Program of Indiana Focus on biopsychosocial changes associated with individuals. Includes training materials and best practice research investigating the efficacy of training approaches.

Ontario Partnership on Aging and Developmental Disabilities A partnership of service providers working in long term care and developmental disabilities, provincial associations, planning bodies, educational institutions and local initiatives. Dedicated to ensuring that older adults with developmental disabilities enjoy the same rights and opportunities to serve and support as every senior in Ontario.

Autism

Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Ministry of Children and Family Development, Government of British Columbia. Includes government policy and procedures for autism services, a parent's handbook to services and other interesting links.

Autism Ontario Source of information and referral on autism and one of the largest collective voices representing the autism community. Members are connected through a volunteer network of Chapters throughout the Province of Ontario.

Center for the Study of Autism Provides information about autism to parents and professionals, and conducts research on the efficacy of various therapeutic interventions. Much of the research is in collaboration with the Autism Research Institute in San Diego, California.

Canadian Down Syndrome Society National organization whose mission is to enhance the quality of life for all individuals who have Down syndrome through advocacy, education and providing information. Includes detailed information on current events, support services, access to newsletter and message board. Has a great searchable index of topics, links also listed by province.
