We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our group of medical specialists and provide consultation services, as part of (SPC) Mental Health Team, to adult persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities and mental health issues (dual diagnosis).
Contributing to the interdisciplinary and teaching activities at SPC, you will assist in building capacity in the understanding, assessment and treatment of persons with dual diagnosis. As part of our growing number of physicians (representing several specialties), you will work towards meeting the mental health needs of the population according to standards of practice across the life span, both in terms of service provision and the training of professionals. Opportunities to be involved in related research are also available.
As a physician eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario, you have FRCPC certification in Psychiatry and meet the requirements for affiliation with the Department of Psychiatry, University of Toronto for cross appointment at the Assistant Professor level (minimum). Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills are required. Assets include interdisciplinary and interagency experience working with individuals with mental illnesses and intellectual/ developmental disabilities, as well as individuals with complex health needs in both institutional, in-patient and community settings.

Manager, Dual Diagnosis Outpatient Teams
Initial Assignment: Dual Diagnosis Program
Position Description: Reporting to the Clinical and Administrative Directors of the Dual Diagnosis Program, you will assume leadership of and operational responsibility for a specialized outpatient program that integrates the perspectives of the mental health and developmental service sectors within a continuum of community-based services. As Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing two interdisciplinary teams, (Peel and Toronto) that provide assessment, consultation, time-limited community based treatment as well as triage to the Dual Diagnosis Inpatient and Day Treatment programs located at the Queen St. site of CAMH. Skilled in working within a changing environment, you will collaborate with the management team, to promote interdisciplinary team growth and ensure services are responsive to client, family and community needs. You will provide leadership in planning, evaluation, partnerships, and student placements. During a period of significant service system transformation, you will participate as needed in key external service planning and delivery groups. This position has multisite responsibilities.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a baccalaureate degree in nursing or Masters degree in another professional health discipline.. You must be registered with the appropriate regulatory college or licensing body in Ontario. A proven track record of progressive management and/or supervisory experience with a demonstrated commitment to building effective teams, diversity and client-centred care. Experience working with developmental or cognitive disabilities, serious mental illness and/or complex needs and a systems perspective is an asset. Excellent organization, communication, problem solving and teamwork skills are necessary. Valid drivers license and access to a vehicle is required.

Advanced Practice Nurse
Initial Assignment: Dual Diagnosis Program
Position Description: The Dual Diagnosis Program offers a continuum of community-based, day treatment and inpatient specialized consultation, as well as time-limited treatment services to clients 16 years of age and older who have a developmental disability and mental health needs. As the Advanced Practice Nurse, you will report directly to the Administrative and the Clinical Directors of the program, as well as to the Deputy Chief of Nursing Practice. As a member of an inter-professional team, you will be a leader in contributing to the quality of client care through your role as an advanced practitioner, educator, researcher and consultant. You will also provide leadership in enhancing professional practice, including the development of client care policies and standards; providing education and consultation services to clients, families, the multidisciplinary team and community stakeholders, promoting and facilitating research, program evaluation and academic activity; and developing resource materials. Working collaboratively with the Dual Diagnosis management team you will participate in recruitment and performance management of staff; provide teaching, coaching, mentoring and clinical supervision in identified areas; program planning and development and serve as a resource and consultant for program administration in decision-making and strategic planning. You will also play a key role in transitioning care practices of staff as CAMH engages in site redevelopment at its Queen Street site.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess a Master’s Degree in Nursing, be registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario, and possess a current CPR Certificate. Eligibility for cross-appointment with the Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto is also a requirement. In addition to a minimum of 5 years experience in mental health, and/or Dual Diagnosis, a demonstrated understanding of the complex health and mental health needs of this special population would be an asset. Familiarity and/or experience with videoconference technology is also an asset. The successful candidate will have demonstrated: the ability to provide professional practice leadership; the ability to challenge and motivate others; education and training experience, commitment to enhancing academic endeavors; experience in leading change and the ability to provide advanced clinical care in a culturally diverse environment. Further, the candidate must have strong research knowledge and skills, the ability to foster the same skill in others. Previous Advanced Practice/Administrative/Education experience is an asset. The candidate will also have excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation and teaching skills. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.

Community Nurse Specialist, Dual Diagnosis Service
CONTRACT – 8 months (Maternity Leave Replacement)

The Regional Dual Diagnosis Service – Central West Specialized Developmental Services, based in Oakville, Ontario, and serving Central West Region (Halton, Peel, Dufferin, Waterloo and Wellington Counties) is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide professional services in communities to individuals having both developmental disability and mental health needs (dual diagnosis).
Position:
Reporting to the Director, the Community Nurse will travel throughout the Region providing professional nursing services to these individuals (“clients”), to their families, and to their community support resources, in the communities within which they reside. The Nurse will:
Assist the Psychiatrist and community health care providers in assessment of clients’ physical health; make appropriate referrals; coordinate medical treatments with psychiatric treatment.
With the Inter-Disciplinary Team, client, family, and stakeholders, establish goals and individual service plans for client, including preventative health care. Provide direct client care; assess, plan, implement and evaluate medical interventions and treatment; administer medications; teach/facilitate daily living activities; enhance social/interpersonal relationships, support vocational activities; providing counseling.
Communicating with clients, the families, and community care providers (e.g. supervised group homes) regarding specific health-related concerns and questions, when requested. Collaborate with Psychiatrist to develop/revise psychopharmacology and medical treatment policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or equivalency, with valid registration as a Nurse (R.N.) in Ontario, plus significant experience providing professional nursing services to individuals with developmental disabilities and/or mental illnesses.
Knowledge and expertise in providing professional nursing services to persons with developmental disability and mental health challenges. Knowledge of the theories, methods, and techniques of developing nursing treatment programs for individuals with developmental disabilities, in particular those with dual diagnosis. Experience in providing professional services to persons with Autism.
Demonstrated ability to work independently in a “field” position, without daily supervision, while planning and delivering nursing services. Demonstrated ability to work as a team member.
Strong assessment, planning, priority setting, and problem solving skills; demonstrated ability to meet deadlines. Computer skills in word processing and e-mail to prepare various reports, memos, etc.
Mental, emotional, and physical stamina, and strong empathy and interpersonal skills, as well as good oral/written communication and listening skills.
Ability to work flexible hours to meet with the clients and community resources
Valid Ontario Driver’s License and a vehicle to conduct home visits and community outreach activities.
Salary Range: $25.76 - $38.03 hourly
